So, you might have noticed that I talk about self-care quite a lot. That's because self-care is a big deal here at Sea Magik (along with salts and natural minerals, of course), and I want to help you to find time for your own self-care.

Why is self-care important?

I believe that daily acts of self-care are essential for our well-being. The world (particularly the crazy one we’re living in at the moment) can often make us feel tired, anxious, and overwhelmed. We’re always so busy juggling all the things we feel we need to achieve every day – working, taking care of the family, managing our home, keeping in touch with friends – that it’s easy to forget to take care of ourselves. That’s not healthy, and it’s not OK. Making time for self-care is just as important as taking care of everything and everyone else. Now, more than ever.

But what does self-care really mean, and how should you do it?

Self-care simply means taking care of your own well-being. It means finding ways to connect with your own body and mind so that you feel calmer, happier, and healthier. Self-care covers a lot of things, big and small, and might look different for each one of us. And that’s totally OK. What I really want to do is inspire you to find the things that keep YOU healthy and happy. Whatever they are. Practising self-care not only benefits YOUR physical and mental wellbeing, it will also have a positive effect on everyone around you. When I make self-care part of my daily life, I feel like a better mum, a happier wife, a nicer friend because I’m more myself.  

OK, so what might self-care look like for you?

Well, there are some big hitters  – getting enough sleep, eating well, exercise, relaxation. These are all great things to aim for, but we all know they can be difficult to achieve every single day. And, as I said earlier, self-care is something we need to be thinking about on a daily basis. But, before you start to feel stressed at the thought of trying to fit self-care into your already overloaded day, even a little bit of self-care can go a long way. Spending just a few precious minutes doing something you love, something that makes you laugh, something that is purely for your own benefit or something that takes you somewhere else (even if that’s only in your mind) can make a huge difference to your wellbeing. This could be:

How can Sea Magik help with self-care?
